For my project I decided to look at the differentiation between AI assisted vs AI generated. This is a topic that is very important today especially within schools. Many teachers believe all AI is bad and that it should be banned ins schools. But I disagree with part of that. AI can be a very useful tool to help you get started on something. For instance say you don’t know how to properly write an MLA cited paper. You can type into an AI source ” What is the format for an MLA cited paper”. Ya, you can due that on the internet, but using AI, more specifically tools such as chat gpt allows for a more organized precise answer. For instance when I typed in What is the format for an MLA cited paper it gave me a quick, very organized answer.

Now when looking at AI in a negative connotation it can be a problem in schools. For instance, I can type in on chat gpt write me an mla cited paper about politics. This is something that doesn’t teach kids to write a paper as well as cause kids to not work hard. So my question is, yes I think using chatgpt can be beneficial, but if we allow it how are we, especially teachers able to track what is cheating and what isn’t. When looking into research I saw there are ai trackers, things that can track whether a paper is AI generated. I think this can be a very useful tool to teachers that allows them to find ai generated papers, but also doesn’t completely ban ai to allow ai assisted writing. So, I hope this project allows others to see the potential for Ai.
